Whisky.de is one of the leading whisky mail order companies in the German-speaking world. The company was founded in 1993 as "The Whisky Store" on Lake Starnberg. It was triggered by a personal passion: Theresia and Horst Lüning discovered their enthusiasm for single malt whisky while travelling through Scotland. In the years that followed, they visited numerous distilleries in Scotland, the USA and Canada, laying the foundations for the establishment of the Whisky.de mail order company.
The small mail-order business grew into a successful family business, which today operates one of the largest German-language whisky knowledge platforms under the name Whisky.de. Since 2016, the management has been in the hands of Benedikt Lüning, who is leading the company into the future with innovative ideas without losing sight of its roots.

From passion to expertise
The success story of Whisky.de began with the aim of making whisky knowledge understandable and accessible. Early on, extensive background articles, detailed product descriptions and tasting videos were created, which are now among the most comprehensive sources on whisky in the German-speaking world.
More than 15,000 videos, tasting notes and specialist articles offer interested parties in-depth knowledge about distilleries, production and flavour. This combination of expertise and enthusiasm has made Whisky.de the first address for whisky knowledge online.
It all started with whisky
As one of the first whisky suppliers on the internet, Whisky.de has been represented online with one of the largest whisky homepages since 1994. Since 2014, we have also been presenting our range on the English-language platform Whisky.com - and in 2023, we proudly celebrated our 30th company anniversary.
Our offer
The main sales drivers are high-quality single malt Scotch whisky, bourbon and Irish whiskey. The range is supplemented by international whiskies, gins and, since 2023, rums. There are also glasses, water jugs and other accessories.

Whisky.de's actively moderated community and forum is home to 40,000 members who exchange ideas and talk shop about whisky.
Internationalisation and growth
Following the successful launch in Germany, the online shop was gradually expanded internationally. Today, Whisky.de supplies customers in several European countries
and, in addition to Germany, also supplies Austria, the Netherlands and, since April 2024, Belgium with high-quality spirits. Switzerland was added in November 2024.
The acquisition of the Whisky.com domain in 2013 was a major step for our company.
Another important milestone followed in October 2025: with the launch of an online shop on Whisky.com in the USA, our online shop is now also represented on the North American market. Under the motto "Where Fine Spirits Meet", American customers can now choose from a wide range of premium whiskies.
With this expansion, we are responding to the growing international demand for high-quality whiskies and the increasing interest of American connoisseurs in European spirits. Together with our partner Bottle Nexus, we ensure that a smooth ordering, purchasing and shipping process is also guaranteed in the USA.
