Wild Turkey Generations: A Whiskey Celebrating Three Generations of Bourbon Makers

It is a very special whiskey that Wild Turkey presented two days ago: For Wild Turkey Generations, whisky makers from three generations of the same family worked together. Jimmy, Eddie and Bruce Russell selected 9-, 12-, 14- and 15-year-old bourbon from the Wild Turkey Distillery Company's warehouses, which were then blended for this Generations.

Whiskey has been a family affair for the Russels since Jimmy Russel began working at Wild Turkey Distillery in 1954. In 2001, the Master Distiller with the longest history of impact in the American whiskey business was inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. In 2010, his son Eddie, who learned the craft from him, received this honour. Initially working as an ambassador for Wild Turkey, Bruce Russel was recently appointed associate blender and continues the family tradition. For him, this whiskey is the first opportunity to leave his personal fingerprint on the brand's history.

Each of the three selected barrels that suited their own personal bourbon tastes: Bruce strong 12-year-old bourbon, Eddie soft 14- and 15-year-old bourbons rich in honey and vanilla flavours, Jimmy 9-year-old bourbon with a classic Wild Turkey profile. In Wild Turkey Generations, sweet notes of vanilla, caramel and dark cherry combine with warm notes of pepper and matured oak and with hints of baked apple, toffee and cloves. A finish of dark fruits, spices and sweet toffee and oak rounds off the taste.

The whiskey was bottled at 120.8 proof / 60.4% vol. Only 5000 bottles of this whiskey will be available in the US at an approximate price of 4,500 dollars. If and when it will also make it to the European market cannot be said yet.
