Rum Cask Finish and Espresso Roast join the experimental series

Since September 2016 spirits company Diageo has been presenting special blends in its series Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch that wide up the portfolio of the classic Johnnie Walker Scotch Whiskies. A blending team led by Jim Beveridge plays and experiments with different ways of influencing the aroma of the whisky.

Many Johnnie Walker Fans are already familiar with the Blenders’ Batch Red Rye. With this Bourbon cask matured whisky that got a finish in ex rye whisky casks the experimental series became known first.

Have you already tried the two latest Johnnie Walkers Blenders’ Batch releases? One is the Blenders‘ Batch Rum Cask Finish that – as its name tells us – a finish in Caribbean rum casks. Sweet aromas and exotic fruits are the main characteristic aspects of its taste. The Blenders‘ Batch Espresso Roast was influenced by using a different starting product: the malt was very roasted very strong so that the whisky is characterized by intensive coffee and chocolate notes.
