Kanosuke Single Malt: The Japanese distillery presents the first core range edition

The whisky was matured in ex-Shoshu casks

Since 2017, Kanosuke Distillery has been producing in the southwest of Japan on the coast of Kagoshima Prefecture. Now they present a single malt that is the first to represent the core range of the distillery. The Kanosuke Single Malt 2017/2022 is already available in the Whisky.com online shop.

Three individual pot stills, which were manufactured in Japan and show different shapes of necks and lyne arms, enable the Kanosuke Distillery to produce and combine different distillates in a variety of ways. They work with both peated and unpeated malt, which is combined in a ratio of 85:15 for the single malts. In addition, grain whisky has also been produced since 2010, which is intended for a future Blended Japanese Whisky.

In addition to ex-bourbon, sherry, IPA and wine casks, Kanosuke mainly uses ex-Shochu casks. The famous Mellowed Kozuru of the parent company Komasa Jyozo, founded in 1883, was stored in them. The local climate with mild summers up to 35°C and harsh winters down to -4°C allows the Kanosuke whisky to mature fast.

The ex-Shochu casks also left their aromatic mark on this Kanosuke Single Malt 2017/2022. Bottled at 48% vol, it was neither chill-filtered nor coloured.
