Glengoyne Cask Strength Batch No. 6 now available

The Southern Highland Distillery has launched its latest Cask Strength single malt whisky

The powerful Glengoyne Cask Strength series was launched in 2012, when it replaced the then cask strength expression with an age statement: Glengoyne 12-Year-Old. With Cask Strength Batch No. 6, Glengoyne is now launching its latest bottling of the popular series. Unlike its five predecessors, this single malt whisky matured exclusively, that is 100% in ex-Sherry casks.

For Glengoyne Cask Strength always the best whisky casks currently maturing in the warehouses of the nearby Dumgoyne distillery belonging to Ian Macleod Distillers are selected. For Batch No. 6, only ex-Sherry casks were the best choice. The composition of future batches will change again, depending on which casks will be mature at that time.

Full-bodied, fruity and peppery

The combination of a mixture of first-fill Sherry casks – both European and American oak – and refill Sherry butts gave this whisky a naturally dark amber colour. Bottled with strong 59.8% abv, this un-chillfiltered version provides rich flavours of digestive biscuits, ripe bananas and a touch of pepper and, therefore, should be the perfect match for the classic Scottish dish, haggis.

Glengoyne single malt whisky is famous for its maturation in ex-Sherry casks and very popular with whisky connoisseurs. An extensive selection of excellent bottlings can be found here in the Whisky.de online shop, together with the new Cask Strength Batch No. 6.
