Bonhams offers a package of 16 single malts of the lost Islay distillery

Whisky from Port Ellen is very popular and looked after. It is in the focus of whisky aficionados, collectors and investors. No wonder bottlings of this Islay distillery, closed in 1983, are always a highlight when offered in an auction. Next month Bonhams in Edinburgh will have a very special subject in its auction: A complete series of Port Ellen Annual Releases from 2001 to 2016 will be on sale.

These 16 Malts were distilled in the years 1978 and 1979 and bottled as parts of the annual presented special releases of Diageo. They are between 22 and 37 years old and were bottled in cask strength. As single cask releases they wear a unique number and they will of course be delivered with their original packaging. The auction of those 16 Port Ellen Single Malts will take place in Edinburgh on 4th October and is supposed to bring £25.000.

If this is a bit too expensive for you maybe a single bottle of a Port Ellen Annual Release would comfort you and your wallet?
