Thurso Distillery presents a whisky with lush sherry cask character

In January 2013, Wolfburn Distillery started production. Ten years later, the privately run distillery now presents their first single malt whisky: Wolfburn will initially be released in a limited edition, but will enrich the distillery's permanent repertoire in the future. In Germany, the whisky will be available in specialised retail shops from the end of April / beginning of May, informs the German distributor Alba Import. In the online shop of Whisky.de, the Wolfburn 10 Years can already be pre-ordered.

This Wolfburn spent its 10 years of maturation in the distillery's dunnage warehouses near the north coast of the Scottish mainland in Spanish oak. Ex-sherry butts provided it with intense fruitiness and lush chocolaty flavours. Thus, the ten-year-old single malt offers a significantly stronger sherry note than the popular Wolfburn Aurora, for which whisky is batched from bourbon and sherry casks.

The Wolfburn Aged 10 Years, distilled on 25.01.2013, was bottled at 46% vol without chill-filtering or colouring.

Tasting Notes for the Wolfburn 10 Years

Nose: Gentle sherry sweetness mingles with notes of figs and sultanas. Hints of vanilla and sweet oak.

Taste: Enormous depth and variety with lush flavours of chocolate and dark fruit accentuated by caramel and vanilla. Hints of nutmeg and spicy oak.

Finish: Silky tannins create a mouth-filling finish with a lovely sweetness and notes of dried fruits and caramel that linger to the end.
