The 40-year-old Dalmore single malt is a luxurious rarity on the German market that has its price

Following its German premiere in August 2018, presented by BORCO Luxury Brand Ambassador Mario Kappes, the luxurious single malt whisky The Dalmore 40 Years is now available in Germany upon request. The recommended retail price is €6,990.

Triple maturation

This new release from the northern Highland distillery has been first matured for about 30 years in ex-Bourbon American white oak barrels before being transferred in 2008 into 30 year old Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts from the Spanish sherry bodega González Byass, which the experienced master blender Richard Paterson chose especially for this purpose. After a further seven years of maturation in these sherry butts, the whisky was finally finished in first-fill bourbon barrels. According to the official tasting notes, The Dalmore 40 Years offers notes of Colombian coffee on the nose, accompanied by sweet sultanas, fresh dates and English jam. On the palate, aromas of gingerbread, molasses, maple syrup and brioche sprinkled with Manuka honey are presented, before fruity notes of Sanguinello blood oranges, overripe Bramley apples, liquorice and dried coconut linger for a long time.

In 2017, a total of 750 bottles of The Dalmore 40 Years were filled at 42% abv. The bottle is not made of ordinary glass, but a crystal decanter, specially made by the French crystal house Baccarat. The trademark of the distillery, the 12-point stag emblem, as well as a heavy cap, both made of silver, adorn this extraordinary bottle. Of course, the packaging is also appropriate to the luxury of the contents. The Dalmore 40 Years stands on a small pedestal in a high-quality wooden box with integrated mirror surfaces inside.
