Glenallachie Madeira Wood Finish 12 Years presents fruity and spicy aromas

A limited release for the German market

The Glenallachie core range has been firmly established on the whisky market since its launch in July 2018 (we reported). Master blender and co-owner of the distillery Billy Walker knows how to handle the stock of whisky they acquired together with the distillery and by his perfect wood management he created a characterful Glenallachie whisky profile. In the meantime, the Glenallachie 15 Years has been added and joins the Glenallachie 10, 12, 18 and 25 Years as a permanent edition.

The additional Wood Finish series shows the possibilities of setting different aromatic accents by using different finishing casks. There is for example, a 12-year-old Glenallachie PX and a 10-year-old Glenallachie Port Wood. Now, especially for the German market, Glenallachie Madeira Wood Finish 12 Years was released, a single malt whisky limited to 4,800 bottles. It was bottled at 48% ABV, unchill filtered and at natural color.

The whisky spent ten years in American oak barrels before Billy Walker filled it in barrique casks in which Madeira wine from Malvasia grapes was previously stored for another two-years-maturation. Official Tasting Notes for the Glenallachie Madeira Wood Finish Aroma: Spicy with light grapes, heather honey, vanilla and orange peel. Taste: Balanced with spices, heather honey, sultanas and mocha. Finish: Persistent notes of cedar and orange peel.
