Nosing:
Savoury and Spicy nose. Biscuit and gingerbread. Ground black pepper. Vanilla and wood.
Taste:
Spicy sweet arrival. Lots of vanilla. Sweetness retained throughout but there's plenty of wood to keep it in check. Very viscous, almost syrup mouthfeel.
Finish:
Long, Pepper, spiciness
Comment:
This is an excellent younger expression of Deanston. It lacks the fruitiness you get in their older releases, but this is a good visceral young whisky which is well balanced between sweet vanilla notes and spicy oak influence. For £30-£35 atm it's a steal.
83/100
