Nosing: Rauch Apfel Minze
Peat smoke, apple, mustiness and a hint of menthol . Smells older than it's age statement would suggest

Taste: Rauch Gerste Malz Gewürze Pfeffer
Balanced arrival, with a spike of peat which immediately falls back. This isn't a heavily peated release, I'd say it has maybe a quarter of the peat content of your average Islay malt. Barley sugar and maltiness, then the peat and spices start to build back up again over time.

Finish: Rauch Gewürze Pfeffer
Oddly, there's more peatiness in the finish than on the initial palette. Finished long with spice and black pepper.

Comment:
I remember this being good from when I last tried it. It still is. The nose is interesting, and has a distinctive mustiness. On the palate it is complex, but not overly punchy. The finish is long and satisfying. It is pretty much the textbook example of what a lightly peated malt should be. Compared to it's age statement, it comes across as much more mature than you might expect, and for the price it's basically unbeatable.
