This is the first whisky of the Ballechin brand that is 10 years old. Before this release there were only wood finishes and no age bottlings. It was matured in American and European oak casks. It is very complex for the 10 years maturation.

Strongly smoky, associated with dark fruits
Taste:
The smoke dominated, followed by caramel and a delicate vanilla. Behind already clear oak

Nosing: Peat Smoke musty earthiness. mushroom. Malt Herbs Hay Zitrus very reminiscent of the Benriach Curiositas 10. chocolate chip cookie, slightly burnt on the bottom.

Taste: Peat Smoke Malt Herbs more earthy notes. Grass mixed with smoke. box says 50ppm, maybe i'm just getting accustomed to peat, but it's a very friendly peat compared to Islay. More integrated than some other Highland peated whiskys. Sweet Vanilla Caramel well integrated with the smoke.

Finish: Bonfire Smoke Fruit Oil Almonds Herbs Honey

Comment: a solid non-Islay peated whisky. stands on its own. one of the best for non Islay peat.

Taste: Peat Smoke Spices Salt Orange Walnut

Finish: Peat Smoke Spices Sherry Oak

Comment: The nose had some rotting sea weed, not unpleasant. Very strong walnut.
