The Highland Distillery introduces the fourth expression of its limited Marquess Collection

While the first two bottlings of the Marquees Collection were matured exclusively in Bourbon barrels, the third single malt from this series received an additional finish in former Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine casks. Now the distillery, founded in 1948, presents the fourth whisky of its limited edition. Its name: Tullibardine The Murray Marsala Cask Finish.

Distilled in 2006, this single malt was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels before having been finished in Sicilian Marsala wine casks for just over a year. Bottled in 2018 at 46% abv, the limited whisky is reminiscent of plump summer fruits, malted biscuits and chewy strawberry candy. "The Murray Marsala Cask Finish is a whisky that pays tribute to our history and is a successful example of our experimentation with new wood types to create a complex and delicious single malt," said master blender Keith Geddes.

Inspired by the distillery's historical heritage, the Marquess Collection is particularly associated with famous Scottish personalities who were entitled "Marquess of Tullibardine". "The Murray" is named after Sir William Murray, the second Marquis of Tullibardine, who was a leading figure in the Jacobite uprising of 1745 with Bonnie Prince Charlie. Sir Murray were captured and taken to the Tower in London, where he died on July 9, 1746 at the age of 57.
