Mackmyra has presented the new Muddus, a single malt whisky that marks the start of a new small-batch series in an exclusive design. Only 3,017 bottles are available of this special whisky, which will go on sale in Europe on 26 April 2023 with a recommended retail price of €79.99.

The Swedish distillery Mackmyra is known for special cask experiments. Cloudberries have often been mentioned in the description of the pre-mixing of the whisky casks for Mackmyra bottlings . For the Muddus, the casks previously carried cloudberry and wild raspberry wine.

"This whisky is inspired by and named after the national park of the same name. An untouched place where cloudberries and wild raspberries grow side by side in the wild. We thought that if we could encapsulate some of the uniqueness and beauty of Muddus in a bottle, we would have a very exciting whisky," says Lii Johnson, Blender at Mackmyra Swedish Whisky..

This special treatment of the casks gave the whisky, bottled at 43.7% vol, a floral and rich aroma with distinct spicy citrus notes, according to Mackmyra's description. With some time in the glass, vanilla and caramel emerge, along with subtle notes of cloudberry and raspberry jam. Flavours range from oriental spices to sweet berries and yuzu fruit.
