Macallan Classic Cut 2023

This year's edition of the series was presented

In the Classic Cut series, Macallan has presented a limited edition every year since 2017, reflecting the classic character of the Scottish distillery.

At Macallan, intensive attention is paid to cask management and especially to "seasoning", i.e. the temporary filling of casks with sherry. The whisky is not finished, the same casks are used for the entire maturation period.

For the Macallan Classic Cut 2023, single malt whisky was married that had been matured in ex-bourbon casks made of American oak and sherry seasoned casks made of European oak. The whisky does not show an age statement. It was bottled with an alcohol strength of 50.3% ABV.

To experience how the whisky changes aromatically with the addition of a little water, Macallan recommends reducing it to about 40% ABV. While the Macallan Classic Cut 2023 presents mainly pear notes in the bottling strength, almond biscuit then comes to the fore.
