Branded as the world's most heavily peated whisky, Octomore is not for the faint of heart. Edition 07.1 combines 208 ppm, 59.5% ABV and 5 years of cask maturation in American oak. Mineral, fresh and less peated than expected, the nose unfolds with lemons, anise and fatty bacon. With a fiery blast of peat, the taste explodes on your palate: pepper, ash and spices conceal hints of sweetness, lime and mint. Intense, briny and slightly bitter, the finish hangs around for hours. The rawness and pure energy of this spirit are outstanding, but so is the price...

Nosing: Peat Smoke Caramel Sweet Fruit Vanilla

Taste: Peat Smoke Sweet Fruit Leather Spices Oak

Finish: Peat Smoke Oak Sweet Malt

Comment: A velvet glove around an iron fist? Oh yes! Strong at the beginning, but smooth and satin at the end. Excellent whisky. Very unique and complex. Octomore is worth to try!

Nosing: Medicinal Smoke Maritime Notes Peat Smoke Tobacco Caramel Fruit

Taste: Peat Smoke ash Spices Oak Nuts Leather Chili Alcohol

Finish: Really long

Comment: An instant peat hit! Very complex flavour moving through spiced oak with a slight chilli feel, to a prominent leather and malt note and onto an almost pine nut note. All with the sweetness of fresh fruit and a potent alcohol content.

English:
Color: amber-orange. Purely natural!
Nose: flowers, lemon, caramel, vanilla, smoke
Smoke however doesn't cover all the other beautiful aromas, besides of it's intensity
Palate: warming, sweet, very complex and very strong (59% ABV), butterscotch... generally, delicious. Peat doesn't dominate as strong as you could expect
Finish: hot, gasoline, backed nuts, sunflower, bitter chocolate, smoke
This whisky is very unique, but the price seems to be to high (Amazon.de 5yo whisky costs 129€). But it’s very fair: it has an age statement, it’s un-chill filtered and without chemical caramel in it.
90/100

Deutsch:
Farbe: Bernstein-Orange
Nase: Blumen, Zitrone, Karamell, Vanille, Rauch
