Lagavulin 16 Years
The classic Lagavulin is kilned with a high smoke content in the malt. The stills are pear-shaped, so that all flavors can be passed on to the condensers during distillation. The single malt then matures in bourbon and sherry casks to completion.

Comment: It's good we can give another review here because I feel I have to bcs I do not agree with me any more :D I was not experienced drinker at that time and didn't know some whiskies need to breath for a bit. So Lagavulin does. Lagavulin became one of my best friends and I really don't think it is even a bit overpriced or overrated. It is just delicious.

Taste:

Finish: Long and powerful
Comment: A very complex dram. Highly peated with additional bonfire smoke notes. Intense, strong yet smooth. Maritime notes drive a salty oakyness with a slight spice and sweetness of fruit. A small sushi seaweed note can faintly be found. Great for any collection and good reference point.

Comment: A very complex nosing with peat smoke all along the journey. The palate was smooth and mouthwatering. The finishing is very long and complex it makes you enjoy yourself in the faint peat smoke the your own world. A very highly appreciable malt from Islay, worth the name Classic malt.

Comment:
Before I tried this, I had been thinking Lagavulin is one of the typical intense Iodine scotch whisky. But the impression was totally different from my expectation. The drum showed great mixture with Smoke, ionine and dried tropical fruits and oranges.
Currently, this drum is one of most my favorite whisky.
