The name Kilkerran is Gaelic and can be traced back to 'Ceann Loch Cilli Chiarain'. This was the first name of the first settlement at this place, which is Campbeltown today. The Malt is produced in the Mitchell's Glengyle distillery. Over 80 years the distillery was closed but was then renovated and reopened by Springbank. The first distillation happened on March 25th 2004.
