Well, what can you expect of this classic, low-prized Blended Scotch? Red Label is very young whisky that can be sipped on its own - if you don't mind the youthful edginess. The nose is certainly lacking complexity, being rather shallow, sweet and harsh. Surprisingly, there is a restrained - but pleasant - Caol Ila/Talisker peatiness coming through. On the palate, an indistinct sherry/bourbon note turns slightly bitter in the development. No real finish. Red Label will most likely end in a tumbler with ice and Coca Cola - and there is nothing wrong with that!

Nosing: Peat Smoke Oak Dark Chocolate Alcohol

Taste: Peat Smoke Alcohol Fruit

Finish: Oak Peat Smoke Pepper

Comment: Smoke carried on throughout nosing and the palate, but not too strong, while the grain notes were quite obvious.

Comment: Not good for anything, not even a mixer, I’d rather use jack Daniels or Jim beam. There’s too much alcoholic harshness and too much bonfire smoke in the background to mix with coke. Bitter and harsh and all around unpleasant. Pass.
