Initially light peat smoke. Sherry with fresh apple and a very light citrus note
Taste:

Intense sweet sherry arrival, transitions into peat smoke, and then vanilla with caramel.
Finish:

Long and oaky. Dried fruit and light smoke.
Comment:
I picked up the cask strength version of this having enjoyed the standard release of Benromach. This is a very different animal, though not in a bad way. Its very much more noticably peaty and the sherry casks are in full force. Good value to be had here and lots of character on show. Would recommend not adding too much water to this one, maybe enough to get it down to 50%abv or so.

Comment: This is the 2007 batch. This stuff's amazing. Walnut and Almond liquer alongside so many other notes. For price to quality ratio, amazing.

Finish: Gets bitter the longer it stays the mouth, very

Comment: Bottle almost finished, had it here for a while because I can only get it abroad, had to make it last because this is just beautiful whisky. Complex. for more easy drinking go for the regular 10yo.

Comment: Had to add, a very distinct smell of ben-gay! kind of mentholy and medicinal. one can especially smell it when nosing the glass after it had dried off overnight.

(without water) Intensive, light smoke, sherry and menthol in case of the high alcohol by volume.
Taste:

(with a good splash of water, about 50%vol) Give this Malt ca. 5-10 Minutes to open up in the glass and take water. Intensive at the tongue with sweetness and a light smoke. Followed by sherry and dried dark fruits with honey-sweetness and nutmeg. A hint of nuts and Oak.
Finish:

A long and impressive finish with a lot of oak and sweetness. Dark chocolate is almost there. You can´t taste the smoke any longer.
Comment: A very good and old style whisky with a high strength of alcohol, so the price is ok.
