Lagavulin 16 Years
The classic Lagavulin is kilned with a high smoke content in the malt. The stills are pear-shaped, so that all flavors can be passed on to the condensers during distillation. The Single Malt then matures in Bourbon and Sherry casks to completion.

Comment: The peat smoke is very intensive during nosing but still there in the tasting and in the finish as well. Compared to other peaty whisky's like Laphroaig and Ardbeg for me it is much more complex. Besides the smoke there is seaweed a little salt or iodine aroma and in the finish the oak is dominant (due to the age) with the peat smoke.
