Filey Bay STR
Filey Bay is made at the Spirit of Yorkshire distillery in the north of England. The northern English county is considered to be the center of English barley cultivation. So it's no wonder that The Spirit of Yorkshire only uses locally grown barley. After maturing in bourbon barrels, this malt was transferred to so-called STR barrels. STR stands for 'shaved, toasted, re-charred', in the process red wine barrels are scraped, heated and burned out again. The whiskey is matured more intensely than in a fresh oak barrel.
