Laphroaig Quarter Cask - new Casing
The extra-maturation of Ex-Bourbon-matured Whisky in small Quarter Casks and the 48% ABV make this Laphroaig the perfect match of peat and oak and a popular alternative to the 10-year-old standard bottling. This is the new edition with a more modern design.

Peat, honey, vanilla, oak
Taste:
Earthy peat, sweetness, spiciness and sharpness
Finish:
Quite long
Comment:
This is nice whisky as this is Laphroaig which I do like. But comparing to 10YO it is less complex and for me less tasty. After typical Laphroaigish kind of peat there is only sweetness and sharpness, after that finish is quite too earthy. No oiliness. For me QC just don't have those wonderfull phenolic and syrupus notes like 10YO for which I like Laphroaig.
Taste:
Finish: Medium - long.
Comment: A whisky that evokes a masculine vibe, lots of peat smoke with a little bit of sweetness and some alcohol heat that wakes up your palate at 48%ABV. Notes of Licorice extract and along with a tar/rubber note. Not that complex really, maybe a good choice for warming up on a cold winter's night. Make sure you air the bottle for a little bit prior to drinking as it does let it settle a bit - 78/100.
