Piccadily
The Indian Piccadilly distillery has been producing Indri Single Malt Whisky since 2021. It also manufactures Camikara Rum, which, unlike many other Rums, is made from pure sugar cane juice and not molasses.

The Whisky
Indri is the name of a town in the Indian state of Haryana, where one of the Piccadily Distilleries is located. The other two are located in Paliala, Punjab and Bawal, Haryana. In Sankrit, the word ‘Indriya’, which also appears on the bottle label, refers to the five senses.
The Indian Single Malt Indri Trini-The Three Wood is made from classic 6-row barley. This has been cultivated in Rajasthan for hundreds of years. It is matured in first-fill bourbon, ex-PX sherry and French wine barrels. The Indri Drú Single Malt was bottled at a cask strength of 57.2% vol. and matured in ex-bourbon casks. ‘Drú’ is a Sanskrit word meaning wood, tree or a vessel made of wood.
The Single Cask bottlings from Piccadily - Indri Single Cask Bourbon 5 years 2024 and the smoky bottling Indri Single Cask Peated Bourbon 5 years 2024 - matured exclusively in an ex-bourbon cask.
The Rum
Camikara Rum is the first Rum in India to be made from fresh sugar cane juice. The name ‘Camikara’ comes from Sanskrit and means ‘liquid gold’. Piccadily's range includes a Camikara Pure Cane Juice Rum 12 years old and a Camikara Pure Cane Juice Rum 8 years old, both aged in American oak barrels.
The Production
The Delhi-based Piccadily Group, which is active in the fields of sugar production, spirits, hospitality, real estate, film and media, also includes three distilleries.
Master Distiller Surrinder Kumar has been responsible for new product developments in the areas of Single Malt and Blended Whisky since 2019. Kumar previously worked at Amrut, where he received the title ‘Distiller of the Year’ in 2011 in addition to various awards.
The Pot Stills
The distillery works with six pot stills - three wash stills, each with a capacity of 25,000 litres, and three spirit stills, each with a capacity of 15,000 litres. The annual production volume is four million litres. This makes Piccadily the largest independent producer and distributor of malt spirits in India. Malt spirits are liquors that are usually distilled in a single distillery from malted barley or rye. However, they do not have to undergo the three-year maturation period prescribed for Whisky and therefore cannot be labelled as ‘Whisky’.
The Warehouses
The distillery imports the barrels for its spirits from the USA. They are assembled and further treated in the in-house cooperage. The toasting and charring of the barrels also takes place here.
Piccadily Distilleries is currently expanding its storage facilities, with plans to build 12 new warehouses for an additional 60,000 barrels. This will enable the distillery to store around 100,000 barrels.
The History
The history of Piccadily Distilleries began in 1953, when K.N. Sharma founded the company Kedar Nath and Sons in Doraha, Punjab. The company quickly grew and secured all the liquor contracts in the region. In addition, the company also ran a restaurant and bar in Chandigarh, the ‘Picadili’. Inspired by the energy of London's famous Piccadilly Circus, K.N. Sharma wanted to bring this atmosphere to Punjab. The ‘Piccadily’ brand was officially launched in 1967 and more Piccadily restaurants, cinemas and a hotel followed.
1993 finally marked the beginning of a new chapter: the family acquired a sugar factory and started producing spirits with the first distillery in Patiala, Punjab. The following year, a second sugar factory and distillery followed in Indri, Haryana and Piccadily Agro Industries Ltd. was founded. The largest of the Piccadily distilleries was established in 2018 in Bawal, Haryana, and was built by Raj Industries based on the Scottish model.
Piccadily's own brands were launched one after the other in the following years: the Blended Whisky Whistler in 2020, the Single Malt Whisky Indri in 2021 and the Rum Camikara in 2022.
The Visitor Centre
A modern visitor centre is soon to open in Indri, Haryana, where visitors can take part in exclusive tastings and learn about the production process.
