Details about the Distillery

The Whisky

The Bosch distillery just recently (1997) added a whisky to their product range. They only have one standard bottling of grain whisky up until now and one limited edition single malt. Usually the distillery produces German high class fruit schnapps (Apple, pear, herbs, ect.)

The Production

Unfortunately we don't have any knowledge about the amount of whisky, that is procured at Bosch. The distillery is proud of their heritage and therefore all the grain comes from organic Swabian farms.

The Pot Stills

The Pot stills are typical German fruit schnapps stills. This means they are rather small and edgy. It doesn't have any reflux bowls. The shape of the still results in the dominant fruitiness of the whisky. One specialty of the stills is that they are fired with wood rather than hot steam.

The Malting

The distillery sources only regional organic malt. The dinkel wheat that is used to produce the malt is dried traditionally over beech wood.

The Warehouse

The frist and only standard bottling has been stored in limousine casks.

History

The distillery was founded by Johannes Renz just after the second world war. Now the distillery is run by the third generation of the family. In 1997 they decided to increase the product range by the Bosch whisky.

The Visitor Center

The distillery is open all week including Saturday except Wednesday.
