Details about the Distillery

The Whisky

The Banff distillery was closed over two decades ago so there are not many Banff bottles left. The prices that you pay for these whiskies are very high, and they are most often bought by collectors.

The Production

There is no production at the distillery anymore.

The History

The distillery was founded by James McKilligan & Co. in 1824. The history of the Banff distillery is a very hard one. The distillery had many fires and was bombed in World War 2. Eventually the distillery was mothballed in 1983, and the last warehouse was destroyed by a fire in 1991. Today the whole distillery is demolished, and there are no plans to rebuild it.
