Nosing: Caramel Vanilla Nuts Dried Fruit
Honey, caramel. Candied nuts and dried apricot, vanilla. Quite buttery. More sweet than fruity.

Taste: Sweet Honey Fruit Dried Fruit Spices
Sweet intense arrival, light honey, mixed fruit and dried fruit flavours. Sweetness diminishes and some spiciness develops over time.

Finish: Nuts Spices Sweet
Medium length, relatively dry. More nutty and spicy character comes forward

Comment:
This is a very approachable release. The nose is really pretty, but I don't get the citrus notes that Horst did a couple of years ago, so maybe it has changed a bit since then. On the palate, it is intense and sweet, as you'd expect from a desert wine finish. However it never gets terribly complex, though the spicy development and drying finish are a nice contrast. The bottling strength is well judged, no water required, nor do I miss any additional alcohol. The price very reasonable for this release. It isn't setting my world on fire, but I could see this as very popular among newer scotch drinkers for it's approachable flavours and presentation. Pretty solid.
