Named after a rocky inlet in the northwest of Islay, Kilchoman Sanaig is the distillery's second NAS core range bottling beside 'Machir Bay'. What a flattering nose! Cooked fruits, cloves and bonfire smoke harmonize with toffee, marshmallows and hints of salt. After a mouth-watering and warming arrival, the sherry cask influence becomes more prominent. Imagine peaty sweetness, wood tannins, brine and lemon zest, lingering on the palate for endless minutes. Almost reminiscent of Lagavulin DE, this young Single Malt scores with quality and character.

Finish: Long

Comment: A delectably delicious nose. Welcomed levels of peat with some sherry shinning through. Caramelised nuts with cooked fruits and berries present. Taste is sweet at first with many layers of complexity that follow. Citrus and peat take charge on the finish. Some youth found in the whisky however.

Nosing: Aromatic peat smoke and some salinity on the first nose.... The aroma of cooked fruits shines through on subsequent nosings. Hint of caramel and vanilla.

Taste: Sweet caramel, burst of citrus fruit and well balanced with the peat smoke. This gives way to pork bbq. Pleasant.

Finish: Medium. Not as long or powerful as the Machir Bay.

Comment: Love the harmony of the fruitiness with the peat smoke. Would return for more drams haha.
