Tasted neat, this Tennessee whiskey is rather harsh and rough. It predominantly smells of airfix glue and solvents, but there is a fruity note lurking in the background. Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is very young whiskey indeed. However, mixed with Coca Cola it harmonizes surprisingly well, as the late Lemmy Kilmister would have confirmed. Hence, from the perspective of a Scotch Single Malt drinker, I can recommend Jack Daniel's for mixing purposes. If you are used to drink your whiskey neat, you probably want a step up in quality - which is Gentleman Jack.

Comment: Hints of anti-freeze, glue/solvent, face wrenching sourness, bitter, heavy alcoholic notes. Purely a mixer.

Taste: Sweet Oak bitters Almonds Alcohol

Finish: Fast Finish Oak bitters Alcohol

Comment: Not the Best Whiskey, but by far not the worst. I liked Old Number 7 better before they cut the alcohol content to 40% ABV, when they did that, then it also seemed to change the flavor for the worse; so that it was no longer good for sipping neat.. This is O.K. for sipping with one ounce of #7 cut with three ounces of water. And it is still O.K. in Coca-Cola, but it is not the cheapest mixer. Gentleman Jack is two to three cuts above this.
