Glenlivet 18 Years

18 long years of maturation and the addition of ex-sherry casks make this Glenlivet much more complex than the popular 12-year-old standard bottling. Despite its quality it's still much more affordable than a lot of other 18-year-old single malts.

Nosing: Fruit Apple Oak Berries Sherry Sweet Vanilla Caramel
Wonderful nose, I easily rank this as one of the single best noses I have ever experienced. It is room filling, wonderful, fruity.

Taste: Fruit Apple Orange Malt Oil Nuts Oak Sherry Sweet Honey Chocolate Nuts
Bittersweet orange, nice and round, sweet orange blossom then comes into play with a hint of milk chocolate and mixed nuts.

Finish: Nuts Oil Oak Cinnamon Nutmeg Spices
Long, satisfying, oak starts to come up with hints of milk chocolate, becoming drier, English breakfast tea appears along nicely balanced tannins.

Comment:
Glenlivet 18 is really good value for money, it would be nice to see no colouring or chill filtering, but it still manages to hold it's own. I would easily rank this in my top 10 whiskies of all time.
