Glenfiddich 15 Years Solera Reserve - old design
Old bottling of the 15 year old Glenfiddich.
Spaniards mash their sherry bottlings with the solera process. That's exactly what Glenfiddich does with this soft and fine single malt. Here whiskys of different finishes (Oloroso Sherry, Bourbon, new oak barrels) were married in a unique brine Oregon pinewood. It is therefore not a pure sherry cask whisky, as it was not stored in the Solera process, but only briefly married.

Comment: A gorgeous gold colour with quick legs in the glass that promises not to be too alcoholic on the palate. The nose ranges from top notes of cherry, peach and vanilla through mid notes of peach, honey and plum to a rich base note of dried fruit and sherry. The taste is complex, the fruit is there, but also a spiciness that the nose does not hint at, followed with a drying tannin of oak, and The finish, vanilla, sweet and a peat smokiness that lingers, definitely worth the high rating it often receives and definitely worth investing in when on offer..... 9 1/2 out of 10!
