Why do you bottle a rather expensive 18-year-old Single Malt at thin 40% ABV, add E150a colorant and chill-filter it? Big question mark! Light but subtle in the aroma, there is a dominating note of overripe apples with some cinnamon, vanilla cream and hints of Oloroso casks in the background. Orange zest and a touch of cider characterize the aromatic arrival, followed by restrained fruitiness and a medium-length finish with mildly bitter wood spices. Altogether somewhat boring and without big complexity, Glenfiddich's 15yo Solera Vat is a better value.

Comment:
nice complexity but too light body and too watered, 43/45abv would be much better.

Nosing: very light and delicate nose Apple with brown sugar. Nuts toasted almonds Almonds ,CinnamonSpices christmas spices including Nutmeg . overrall very well balanced. Herb notes as well....sitting in glass longer it the nose is "thickening" so to speak, becoming more viscous and heavy.

Comment: Real good stuff! There's a lot going on here, very well balanced. The baked apple notes combine with the spices and the balance of casks, all comes together to create something i honestly wasn't ready for! I found myself "chewing" this whisky too, not something i do unless a whisky has a lot of heft and character to it's body.
