Akashi 5 Years Sherry Cask
We mostly have to thank Masataka Taketsuru for the production of Japanese Whisky. But even before him or the founding of Suntory, a Whisky distillery existed in Japan. The distillery White Oak was already licensed in 1919 and therefore is the oldest one in Japan. Besides the standard Blends, a small number of Single Malts from Akashi are reaching the European market recently. This single cask matured for five years in a Sherry cask.
