Mackmyra Björksav

Mackmyra Björksav partly (20%) finished for two to four years in birch Wine casks. Also called 'Birch Champagne', this Wine is produced by fermenting sap which is extracted from the birch trunk, together with sugar, yeast and lemon and then maturing the liquid in casks. Birk sap is mostly harvested in spring in Scandinavia. The resulting Wine has a fine-bitter, slightly sour and fresh taste.

The idea of distilling Swedish Whisky was born during a ski tour among eight friends in 1998. Each of them brought a bottle of Whisky and so the conversations were mostly about this topic. From there, the distillery Mackmyra Bruk was created, which only uses local ingredients and is non-colouring their Whiskies. The founders perpetuated themselves within the bottle design.
