Balvenie Double Wood 12 years celebrated its 25. birthday in 2018. This milestone started in 1993 and is proof of talent in the craftsmanship of malt master David Stewart, who developed a procedure in 1982, which is known as 'Wood Finishing' today. Ex-Bourbon casks from American oak and Hogsheads were used for the 12 year old Balvenie Double Wood. A finish in Ex-Oloroso Sherry casks made from Spanish oak follows.

Taste: Sweet, spicy, oaky, sherry comes out later. Dark chocolate. I tasted no bitterness. Smooth
Finish: Rather long legs. Spicy, cinnamon, creamy, sherry really comes out on finish.
Comment: I tried this bottle because Horst liked it! Was he ever spot on! It is delicious. $65 per bottle in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I really LOVE Speysides like Aberlour, Glenfarclas. This Balvenie 12 Double Wood is glorious. Getting another couple bottles for my vault!!
