Nosing: Apple Strawberry Grape Herbs (thyme & oregano) Lemon and a subtle undertone of Vanilla

Taste: Dry Sherry (clearly not PX/Oloroso) Grape Grapefruit dehydrated candied Kiwi

Finish: Oak Grass Herbs Dark Chocolate

Comment: The impact of the dry Amontillado sherry is unmistakable. There are complementary fruit influences on the nose and through this whisky's taste & finish experience, further distinguishing it from the more widely celebrated Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherried whiskies. Glenkinchie's Distiller's Edition provides an enjoyable detour along the route of sherry influence.

The taste elements in the Glenkinchie Distiller's Edition are not long-lasting, but they do range across sweet, sour, and savory during the relatively brief experience that they provide. Again, Amontillado sherry is evident. A white wine grape lingers into the finish, joined by an herbal note that is also present on the nose.

Given the combination of scents and tastes presented, one might be left lamenting that the finish lacks a nutty aspect that would have tied a bow on this whisky.
