Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength
105 proof was the old measure of alcohol content. The Whisky was mixed with gunpowder. Based on the explosive strength of the mixture, it was possible to calculate the alcohol content. The then named Glenfarclas 105 matured exclusively in Sherry casks and was bottled with a strong 60% vol.

Very intense. Big time sherry nose. Initially Apples with cinnamon and raisin, reminds me of a Dutch apple tart. As it sits the fruit recedes and a dark toffee note becomes more prevalent.
Taste:
Intense sweet sherry arrival, lots of dried fruits, oak and light spice. Like being punched in the head with a fruitcake.
Finish:
Long and smooth, remaining sweet. Still lots of sherry and oak with a bit of black pepper.
Comment:
Well, this is an absolute beast. I'll say from the outset that this definitely needs a good extra 30%-40% water added to it to be at its best or you'll get pummeled by the alcohol level. Its intense all round, especially in the nose and palate and maybe loses a little complexity for it, but not much. Very enjoyable if you like the sherried style.
