Morrison & MacKay
In 1982 John Murray & Co Ltd was founded on the Scottish Isle of Mull. Back then the only product was the Columba Cream, a Scotch whisky liqueur that uses a traditional recipe and no artificial additives. The founding family Bartholomew named their liqueur after the well-known Irish monk St. Columba, who, based off the Isle of Iona, promoted the Christianisation of Scotland and parts of England during the 6th century.
In 1995 the company moved to Perth and was renamed Scottish Liqueur Centre. Beside further liqueurs, they have also been bottling Scotch whiskies in their own bottling plant for several years now.
Since the company's main focus has switched to whisky nowadays, it was renamed "Morrison & MacKay Whisky Merchants" in June 2014. It is managed by three people who have been working in the industry for quite some time, among them a member of the Morrison family, the former owners of Bowmore Distillery.
At the moment the renowned whisky liqueurs Bruadar, Columba Cream and Ginger Tam's are produced. Bruadar - Gaelic for "dream" - is produced with sloe and honey. It is the Scotch whisky alternative to the English classic "sloe gin". Columba Cream, on the other hand, is a cream liqueur with blossom honey, made according to the old family recipe. The single malt for it comes from Tullibardine Distillery. Ginger Tam's is a high-proof whisky liqueur that contains ginger amongst other things.
However, the main focus for the future lies on the special single malts from the Càrn Mòr line, which contains only unchillfiltered and naturally coloured whiskies. Within the line three different series are released: Strictly Limited, Celebration of the Cask and Beinn a'Cheo.
