TOMAR: What is it?
SCOTT: Well, it's, er. (peers at it, sniffs it) It's green.
1-Laphroaig (they are reasonably priced, and offer an uncolored and unchill-filtered cask strength 10 year old at a reasonable price as well.)
2- Woodford Reserve (pot stills used in bourbon production, who wouldn't want that?)
3- Ardbeg (craft offerings, decent price, good casks)
4- Craigellachie (nothing else like it in Speyside, love the spent match and lemon-beer notes, also their 13 and 17 year old are priced well)
5- no 5th due to lack of experience. I guess any true craft distillery that gives uncolored and unchill-filtered offerings as standard.
in no order and subject to change; Laphroiag, Mortlach, Caol Ila, Glenfarclas, Talisker
almost breaking into into the top five - Clynelish, Ardbeg, Aberlour, Macallan, Old Pulteney, Springbank
In no particular order:
Talisker - the 10, 18 and 30 are all superb
Benriach - quite varied products, always excellent
Glendronach - the 12 and 18 are fab
Highland Park - the 12, 15 and Dark Origins are all wonderful
Ardbeg - their Uigeadail and 10 are my favorite peated Islay malts
