All tasting notes
19. Jul 2019
Nosing:
Sweet and fruity, tropical fruits. Predominantly mango and pineapple. Orange oil. There's a very slight alcohol nip, but nothing excessive.
Taste:
Sweet and full bodied arrival. Sweet spices, ginger, More fruitiness - citrus, but creamy texture.
Finish:
Medium length, residual ginger and spices, drying. Remains sweet, reminds me of speculaas biscuits.
Comment:
I've always enjoyed the independant bottlings of Benrinnes. I had a nasty run in with one of their official bottlings recently which I didn't like at all. I bought this to reaffirm what I knew the distillery could produce. I'm happy to say that confidence is restored. This has definitely got the distillery character to it and is a very competent release. I have to say that for the price (£35) at the time of writing its an absolutely cracking buy, far outperforming most of the standard releases on the market currently. A definite yes on this one.
