Nosing:
Medium peat, vanilla and a touch of fairly nondescript citrus.
Taste:
Smoky arrival but not overpowering. Some honey sweetness.
Finish:
Short. The peat dies off really fast leaving a dry oakiness.
Comment:
This release isn't bad, but it really isn't that exciting. The nose is ok, but on the palate it seems a bit half baked as it is relatively one dimensional and seems to be lacking a bit in intensity. The finish is disappointing, and if you blink you'll miss it. It comes at an affordable price though, and if you're testing the waters with peated whisky its a decent enough place to start as it won't blow your head off with the smokiness.
