Nosing:
Initially a sweet hit of butter toffee and vanilla. Lots of sherry and raisin. Some mixed citrus peel in the background.
Taste:
Initial sweet citrus fruit arrival. Malty cereal, lots and lots of oak, almost too much.
Finish:
Medium length. Finishes dry and oaky with slight bitter aftertaste.
Comment:
I think this one is one of those ones that just came out of the barrel too early. The nose is aromatic and lively, with lots of active sherry cask influence. On the palate it just feels a little disjointed. The cask influence is overbearing, and as it transitions towards the finish it feels like you're gnawing on a plank of wood. At the price, for me its definitely one to pass on.
