bitterness:
Comment:
Very simple structure with Oak, sweetness from bailey, honey and bit of peat flavor. Finish impression is very similar to the palate. But there is a distinctive part on this one. This has a kind of sea food flavor , specifically with the hint of fish source , made from fermented salted fish ,called "num pla". I found it salty after a while of trying.

Nosing: citrus
Taste: zesty citric fruit shells
Finish: Medium, slightly bitter
Comment: What a great whisky. Very complex, even though it is a NAS whisky. The aromas somewhat resemble a bourbon, which, I think, does make sense since this whisky was matured in the first-fill American oak casks. The nose is sweet and creamy with honey dominating, and the honey aroma reminds me the fresh honey just extracted from cells of a beehive. The palate is oaky and spicy at the beginning, but then it becomes fruity and sweet with notes of a baked red apple, cinnamon, honey and zesty citric fruit. The finish is oaky and nutty with a light grapefruit-like bitterness.
The fruity notes resemble not the ripe fruit, but rather a fruit pie or a cake. The official tasting notes say that there is a ginger on a palate, but I personally think that it is rather a zesty citric note. Anyway, I have enjoyed this whisky a lot, and I think it is very worth trying. Looking forward to trying the Scapa 16 years old))
