Corti Brothers is an incredible local institution with decades of worldwide connections for attaining any specialty grocery, wine or spirit. They even had store-exclusive bottlings of Pappy Van Winkle in the early 2000s, and supplied the "Cognacaise" bottle style that everybody knows from Pappy these days.

This Whiskey, then, is a true oddball - it starts as a great 7Y Bourbon, but is finished nontraditionally and outside of Bourbon country.
Its finish is in sweet wine barrels of rich history, and they dominate the nose. It would make a perfect ringer in any Scotch or Bourbon tastings, as the Bourbon qualities are greatly hidden. If you have never tried a "Sherry monster" from the old days, this comes close.

The palate is further refined by the dark sweet wine impact, with a little bit of rye spiciness coming through. Incredibly intense, complex and involving, making it a truly singular spirit.

It is remarkable that nobody has started a rumour that it may be a young Van Winkle...
