Bowmore 9 Years
Bowmore has become known for his sherry-flavored bottlings. In this young malt, the maritime smoke flavors of Islay are still particularly strong.

Nosing: Initial hit of rubber, like a new trainer sole. This eases with a few drops of water and the sherry starts to come through. Hints of oily orange peel and also some vanilla (vanilla from the bourbon barrels?).
Taste: Light peak smoke and spice linger. Water brings through sherry notes, such as raisins.
Finish: Smoke grows on the palate and there is a touch of salt. Nice finish.
Comment: I have seen this over in the UK for £15 (<20 USD) at the supermarket, Asda. It's a beautiful colour, but apparently this is due to added colourant. Great dram for the price and there is certainly nothing wrong with young whiskies.
