All tasting notes
30. Sep 2018
Nosing:
Dark dried fruits, raisin, strong sherry influence. Has a fresh lime juice citrus note as well.
Taste:
Powerful arrival, full on raisins, balanced sweetness is balanced by the oak. Has a creamy mouth coating texture.
Finish:
Intense and long, residual dried fruit, has a citus tang as it transitions from the palate. Remains balanced, neither dry or sweet. A little oakiness showing through at the end but not overpowering.
Comment:
I've always had good luck with independent bottlings of Benrinnes, it just seems to be one of those distilleries which lends itself to it. This is no different. It has a beautiful powerful sherried nose, and backs it up on the palate. It is extremely singular in its taste of raisins, more so than I've experienced in almost any other malt. If you can find a bottle, its well worth grabbing, especially at the very reasonable asking price.
