Taste:
Finish: medium-long
Comment: good quality price, well balanced
The nose is floral, malty, with signature lemon zest, vanilla and a light "sapwood" oakiness. The palate is big, malty, round, and structured by spicy oak tannins and toasted oak. A light "piment d'espelette" spiciness is present, but brilliantly balanced.
Whereas this is nothing like the vintage bottlings from the early 90's, it strikingly illustrates a parallel development to Macallan's age-statement bottlings. At a third of the price, this delivers more intensity of similar characters found in modern bottlings of Macallan's 12Y or 15Y Fine Oak bottlings.
