Hi all.
I'm happy to find an online community like this. Seems like a great spot.
Clearly, I'm new around these parts. From St Louis in the US.
In college many, many moons ago, my roommate and I bought a bottle of J&B and thought we were the height of sophistication. "Cheers!" was still on and we both figured if we drank "scotch" we'd impress the men and woo the ladies. It tasted like fuel. I remember gagging.
Fast forward 25 years to 2016 and a co-worker shared a bottle of 18-year-old Laphroaig with us and, wow. I was hooked. I'm enjoying learning about, tasting and plotting to build a collection.
Im trying to learn how to taste beyond "smoky" and "not so smoky."
At at any rate, its all great fun and I'm happy to be here.
Doug

Thanks, Horst.
I really enjoy your tasting videos. The one with your son and you tasting a Lagavulin is my favorite so far. I'm learning quite a bit from you and everyone on this site!
