My latest purchase was today; The Balvenie 17 yr Doublewood. I found it on sale for $110 (normally $150 at my store) and I couldn't pass it up.
@kroman
I bought Compass Box Enlightenment last year when I was in Scotland. Interesting whisky but it also contains some contents of young whisky which coats my mouth. So more interesting than good.
@kroman Oh my.. I've wanted this for a long time! Good one

I like the Hedonism a lot despite the price. I would say it is elegant without having a too in-your-face personality. sweet vanilla and old coconut flesh (coconut would conjure up very different taste profile for temperate folks vs tropical folks like myself).
but I think the standard range like Great King Street and Spice Tree are not too expensive.
My recent purchase was Cadenhead Caol Ila vintage 2000 14 year cask strength on deep dirty discount to $69 normally $119 and a bottle of JW Green Label for $49 normally $69
regarding Compass Box...they are a fantastic company...I have tried a bunch and have actually had an email dialogue with John Glaser, very nice guy...the best bang for your buck with them is Oak Cross at $50...the best tasting is the delicious Flaming Heart at ~$100...Enlightenment is basically Flaming Heart without the smoke...if you like peat, Peat Monster is a good one...Spice Tree is good but < Oak Cross to me....my local whisky purveyor is promising me samples of the super expensive Hedonism and 3 year ($300 yikes!), I will report back on those...their Glascow Blend and Great Street are easy sipping drams, Glascow being more peated...
@Shmotch A great bargain!

Our last 3 purchases - amongst a few others during a recent Speyside holiday with friends.....
Glenfarclas 25YO
Glenfarclas 21YO
Glendronach 21YO Parliament
@Suzanne1967
Also bought a Glenfarclas 21yo
How does the 21-year-old Parliament compare to GlenDronach's discontinued Revival? Is it worth the hefty price tag? The reviews I read were a bit so so... Thoughts?
Cheers!

@SlàinteMhath I wish I knew, haven't tried the Revival, they didn't have any left... but with the real age of the GD being slightly older I thought it worth a punt, and after trying it at the distillery we were both happy enough to buy, picked up an 18YO Allardice too, very nice... Now just need to find a Revival at a reasonable price... and get it home without upsetting hubby
