Going to purchase Benriach 12 Years Tawny Port finish, and just wondering what is ppm level ???? there said it is heavily peated. does that mean 40+ ppm? or more???
We don't have the 12 year tawny port.Horst had the 15 year in his German blog 3 years ago and did not find it to be peaty at all.
Didn't know there was a 12 year old Tawny Port - are you sure about that? The 15 y.o. was very smooth and creamy - very nice stuff indeed!
Is it this one, maybe?https://www.whisky.com/whisky-database/bottle-search/details/fdb/Bottles/Details/benriach-importanticus-fumosus-port.html
Aaah - great! Only knew this one by name, never realized that it was a Tawny Port Finish! Thanks, voskarp!
11 Germany Users definitely wrote smoke in their tasting notes. So it should be peated.
The Importanticus is peated. I don't know the exact ppm, but i think i will be around 40-45ppm. Close to Ardbeg, Lagavulin & Laphroaig, but just not that phenolic.
